Ohio. Went to Origins. Huge game convention. For those of you who don't know what it is. It's jsut a bunch of geeks playing games nonstop. Every game you can think of. You name it. It was there. Settlers of Catan (magnified and played onf foam 6x6" hexes). Apples to Apples. Mechwarrior (World Championships). Heroclix. Mage Knight (National Championships, which my 3 roommates played it). Magic, Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon, L5r, etc, etc. RPGs were done to, tabletop and LARP. So like I said, everything.
Also they had an Exhibitors hall where they buy, sell and trade stuff. I bought a Dropship for MW and some music CDs for use in VTM. I also bought a Demon book and got a set of free dice w/ it. And I bought dice for $3 (normally $7). I also got some cards and did a lot of trading.
Night 1: Fly there and sleep.
Day 1: Buy some stuff and play some MW tournies.
Day 2: See some of MW Worlds and bought stuff. Went to dinner w/ one of our friends (who was born and raised there). He took us around town after and stuff.
Day 3: Watched Paul, Cliff and Randy play in Mage Knight Nationals. Unfortunatly Cliff didn't win as well as we hoped, even though he's #2 in the world. Beta tested Mechwarrior Solaris. Got a free $80 for it. Played a demo of .hack//enemy (CCG, so much fun, I plan on buying it).
Day 4: Watched championship playoffs for Mechwarrior and Mage Knight. Took one last stroll around the Exhibitors Hall and bought a game.
Had lots of fun. The entire trip was one long gay joke, everything that could be turned into a gay joke was.
I'm looking foreward to .hack//enemy
