Degrees

I was informed by Crystal that I am only a few degrees from Kevin Bacon.
Now I find out that Holly is one degree from Tom Cruise, which makes me
three degrees, and you four.

This came up in a conversation about writing a letter to someone to ask
for advice. Apparently one of her students wrote him a letter asking for
a 15 minute interview to know if he was on the right track to success.

When the student said, "Thank you so much for this oppurtunity, you must
get hundreds of letters asking for your mentorship."

Tom Cruise replied with, "Actually I don't get any, because people don't
think it's possible."

Go write a letter.

I'm not so sure that first sentence is correct. That is, if I actually have to have contact with that person. I went through a friend of a friend's journal when I found that. I'm not even sure how many friend's journals I went through before I found that one entry. I simply mentioned it to you because I thought that was just some random thing you made up... the six degrees to Kevin Bacon thing...

nathan - 5. you dont count yourself as a degree.

crystal - actually, would you believe that the university of like virginia or some crap has put up a web site where you can type in any actor's (or actress') mame to see how far away they are from kevin bacon.

what people do in their free time.... GO CURE CANCER OR SOMETHING!

Anyway, onto the real purpose of the fucking post.

Find someone you admire and write them a long, heartfelt letter about how you want to be mentored by thm. Ask for a 15 minute phone call to find out if you are onteh right track in the career of your choice.

I see what you mean... If I was questioning myself, I think I'd actually do this myself, but I'm quite secure with my choice. I've actually had the opposite happen where a counselor at school was quite assertive about me changing my career choice because of the pay.

As for simply being mentored... I'd probably write a bunch of letters to a bunch of people. xD Mentor me about how to cook, pet care, psychology, different languages, etc. The list could go on and on. I just want to know too much. :P

Besides, I've already been encouraged by one of the few people in my life I admire very much that I'm going somewhere with my career choice. That opinion was more then enough to convince me that I'm fine where I am. Even if I'm not 100% sure where it may take me. :) ~hugs~
